Anneliese The Adult

The time has come. This precious little thing with a bow in her hair and hand-me-down overalls has graced the world with her presence for 18 wonderful years! That smiling, charming little girl is now the wit and backbone of the Carter family, keeping us laughing, humble and stylish. Thank goodness she was born into our family!!

THREE CHEERS FOR ANNELIESE, and A HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Alumnhood

Cue: "Pomp and Circumstance"

Do I look different? Oh, I look older and wiser? Well, it's fitting because I am fully graduated now. Duh.

It was such a special experience graduating with this chick by my side. If you don't know the story, Anna and I met freshman year because we both wanted to be Communications majors. So on that glorious day of freshman orientation, we went to the Comms major preview in the De Jong Concert Hall. There we declared "Communications!" as our major (just as Michael Scott declared bankruptcy an Office episode long ago).

Last Friday, we sat in that same concert hall in cap and gown with a fast four years behind us. Anna is off to be a top broadcast journalist somewhere in the big, wide world (aka California we hope!) and I am continuing down the yellow brick, sometimes treacherous road of public relations. So fitting. I'll pitch her the story, she'll produce the story - we're all a happy bunch.

BUT what made graduation that much more special was that our family made the long trek from Utah to celebrate. I loved having a long weekend to spend with them. I even took my first day off work for convocation on Friday!! I'm sorry, but I cannot work when I am supposed to be walking.

Michael wore his new spectacles so he wouldn't look like a dumby who wasn't graduating. Or maybe it was because he wanted to prove to the world that he was a soon-to-be law student. Woo woo! Hot attorney coming right at ya!

Final note, those caps and gowns are not flattering. I wore it just this much side ways and it looks like I have a lazy eye. That thing came off my head very quickly.

It's a Croquet Kind of Day

There are a lot of things I admire about Michael. And after he whooped us all in the fine art of croquet, I have to add his mallet handling skills to the list.

Favorite part of the day was the fact that Grandma Anna joined in! Let me tell you, she's still got it. She got some great distance on that ball. The only part was making sure she was hitting the right ball.

Malt Chocolate Magic

Marrying into the White family has inspired a plethora of things, but near the top of the list is a renewed joy of cooking in me - ha. no pun intended. The White women are pros in the kitchen! When I go home to visit them I'm pretty sure I grow and inch or two - wide that is :) Although I'm still working off my last Christmas visit, I am grateful that they are willing to teach me their ways.

Lisa made this cake for her own birthday last summer, and I have been searching for a reason to munch on this decadent tower of marshmallows and malt chocolate for nearly a year. Well, I found one! Thanks, Michael.

I pretended like you'd be interested in the ingredients or that I was the famous Pioneer Woman...

then I got distracted by the burning marshmallows in the oven, the dishes in the sink and yada yada yada...

fast-forward and the cake turned out like this.

And then there was none. Seriously.

Birthday Bash

Yep, this man will never know how much I love him or how happy I am that he was born! I'll gladly celebrate every April 15th.

Well at 1:33 am, I can now officially say Happy Birthday to my main man Michael Andrew, although I've been saying it all weekend. I've decided that having a Sunday birthday is quite a blessing - a weekend long blessing.

Birthday showers started to pour on Friday night when Michael demanded I give him his presents early. He may be 26, but he will never outgrow swindling presents out of you.

Our Saturday proceeded as follows: morning donuts, shopping, lunch, naps and dinner with friends

Another year older.

Catch'n up to do

March has been madness, which is my poor excuse of not blogging and sharing wonderful moments throughout the month. But it is April! - an awesome reason to start documenting the best time of year, full of moderate, wonderful temperatures and pretty full trees. April will also be full of family time, BYU convocation, my main man's birthday and some big-time law school decisions. So don't touch that dial, we'll be back with loads more on the White family.

As a recap, here is a little of what March has brought into my life. Treats, cubicle decorations, nephews!!, lunchtime walks by the temple, date nights and so much more...

I thought of cropping myself out of Michael's model shot, but I'm pretty sure I make him look that much better.
