Mom and Dad came to town last week! I was so happy to have my parents here for a weekend, even if it did fly by. And I got to do one special thing with each of them.
Dad:
Dad helped me design the long-awaited Chevron painting that Kassidy inspired me to make. For some reason, Dad knows just how to explain technical things to me. And after much frustration and hearing myself say, "I can do it!," Dad jumped in and saved the day.
And here is how it turned out! I love it. Here we have the wreath that my mom helped me make and the painting that my dad so patiently helped me tape.
I shall call it - the parent shelf.
Mom:
Mom and I had a wonderful day chatting away with sister-in-law Kassidy, and Kai's gf Mandi. It's weird sitting in Zupas and talking over soup for two hours is fun for us girls. But! A woman's day is never complete without a short shopping run.
Mom and I stopped by Ikea to pick up the shelf (as seen above). Wandering through the rooms of Ikea not only made me think of "the Chinese family in our bathroom" from 500 Days of Summer (love that part), but it took me back to our mommy-daughter dates of home decor shopping around Salt Lake. I love getting home advice from my mom. She's just got that eye. AND we spotted these $20 drapes! Nothing better than no-sew, super cheap drapes to charm up the place.
Sister:
Ace wasn't able to join the parentals on their trip to UT because of a big dance competition, BUT it's all good because she is officially moving up here in the fall! Anneliese no middle name Carter has been accepted to attend Brigham Young University, and I couldn't be more proud and thrilled to have the greatest girl ever up to live near me. It's been a long four years without having her less than a 12 hour drive away.
Here we are. The first time Anneliese came to visit me in the dorms back in 2008.
